As we study A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, we explore the visits The Ghost of Christmas Present makes AFTER Scrooge sees The Cratchits, including visits to a miner’s family, a lighthouse, a ship and of course nephew Fred’s friends and family. Additionally, we explore the symbols of Ignorance and Want that critique Victorian attitudes towards Christmas. A detailed, engaging and fully differentiated lesson on Stave Three of A Christmas Carol.
A fully differentiated and resourced lesson to help prepare KS3 and KS4 students to write formal newspaper articles, but focussed around Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A 'DIRT time' activity is also included.

We as study An Inspector Calls we analyse Arthur Birling, the patriarch of the family and a man of considerable power. But does JB Priestley want us to respect Birling or mock him? Is Birling shown as a capitalist or a socialist? What values does he represent? This lesson covers how Birling is presented right up to the introduction of The Inspector in Act One.
